Par contre les personnes âgées qui se sont fait vacciner ou ont été vaccinées moultes fois dans leur vie ont une immunité "croisée" : leur système immunitaire réagit au moins partiellement à la nouvelle souche parce qu'elle ressemble un minimum à une souche ancienne
De toutes manières la vaccination ne sera que le signal de la fin de la pandémie et l'éradication de la souche pandémique. Même si la grippe mexicaine était similaire à un vaccin ancien, il faudrait plusieurs semaines pour le produire en quantités suffisantes.
